Career & Achievements: With more than 30 years in the IT and Telecommunications industry in Australia and overseas, John has a diversity of expertise in marketing and management, business set-up and operations, strategic planning, restructuring and change management, as well as other senior executive and leadership roles.
Since 2002, John has worked in a variety of representational and consulting roles, mainly associated with information technology and telecommunications. John was an Executive Director for Fujitsu Australia until 2002. Revenues under his leadership increased from $74 million to $300 million over a five year period and the manufacturing function was transformed to export quality.
Prior to this, he held the position of Managing Director, for Nortel Australia, and was responsible for its revenue increase from US$140 million to US$280 million over a five year period, as well as initiating the company's long standing strategic alliances with Telstra and Optus.
Positions held in Canada prior to his immigration to Australia
include General Manager, Nortel Canada and Vice President, Bell
Communications Systems.
John is co-Chair of Communications Alliance Ltd, former Chair of
Service Providers Association Inc, Board member of radio station
FM103.2 and a former Member of the Industry Advisory Board for
CSIRO's ICT sector. He has contributed to Governmental initiatives
including the Electronics Industry Action Agenda committee and the
Teleworking Advisory Group committee.
John took over as Chair of TEC 20 in 2007 and Chair of TEC 8 in 2008.
Education & Associations: He holds a Bachelor of Science (Engineering), from Queens University, Kingston, and an MBA from the University of Ottawa.
