Career & Achievements: Brent has had wide-ranging experience at a senior management level at the National Bank of New Zealand (now ANZ National Bank Ltd).
He was Representative in Japan for the National Bank and Deputy Manager of the Lloyds Bank International Tokyo Office for four years. He has held the position of manager of the main Auckland office of the Bank and two years later established the Auckland Area office with overall responsibility for the Bank's business in the region. This included responsibility for a staff of 300, sales and credit risk.
More recently he was involved with the establishment of National Bank Private Banking, a unit dedicated to giving investment advice and on-going management of clients' investment portfolios. After a fledging start this business now manages in excess of $2 billion of clients' funds.
Brent and his wife, Janet, ran a very successful ladies wear business in St Heliers for over 11 years. He is Chair of the Corran School Trust Board, an independent girls' school in Remuera, Auckland. He has acted as an advisor to a number of firms and was previously Chair of the St Heliers Business Association and oversaw the successful implementation of the Mainstreet programme.
Brent has been chairing TEC 701 since 2006.
Education & Associations: Brent holds a Diploma in Business Studies from Massey University, is an Honorary Life Member and Senior Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australasia, a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries and Administrators (a past president of the New Zealand Division). He is a member of the New Zealand Institute of Directors, The Auckland Club (a past president) and The Northern Club. Brent is a Justice of the Peace for New Zealand.
